Primary Grades 1-3

In the Primary program, our teachers guide first through third graders with themed projects and learning centers designed for independent activity, follow-up to teacher lessons, extension of lessons, or enrichment. Using textbooks, multiple kinds of materials, and technology, our children learn choice-making and responsibility as they study religion, integrated language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Special projects help children integrate their learning. Students and parents love the annual second grade social studies unit which focuses on a special country.  In their recent study of Japan, students demonstrated through song, poetry, and presentations their understanding and appreciation with/for this far-away neighbor. Their off-site learning took them to lunch at a Japanese restaurant on Germantown Avenue in the heart of Chestnut Hill.
