Admissions Procedure

Norwood-Fontbonne Academy offers an individualized admission process that is designed to help parents and the Academy insure the appropriate placement of each student.  We outline these components to facilitate our work together for your child.

  • Please contact Joanne Baillie, Director of Admission, at (215) 247-3811 ext. 204 or jbaillie@norfon.org in order to schedule a private tour.
  • Complete the application form and return it to Norwood-Fontbonne Academy with a $75 application fee.  The fee covers the cost for the application process ($35) and the student assessment ($40).
  • If your child is applying to NFA's Pre-primary, Kindergarten, or Montessori preschool, the child will visit with a certified teacher.  If your child currently attends preschool a Confidential Common Recommendation form should be completed by the child's teacher and sent directly to Norwood-Fontbonne Academy.
  • Applicants to Primary Grade One spend a morning with the Kindergarten class.  Applicants to Junior Level Montessori Grade One spend a morning with a Preschool Montessori class.  During the course of the morning, the child will visit with a certified teacher.
  • Applicants to Grade Two through Grade Eight attend classes during a two-day academic visit.  During the course of the visit, the Director of the Lower Grades or her designee will administer placement tests in Mathematics and Language Arts to applicants to Grades Two and Three.  The Director of Admissions will administer placement tests in Mathematics and Language Arts to applicants Grades Four through Eight.
  • If your child is applying to Grade One through Grade Eight, please send a Release of School Records form to the child's present school.  Ask that records be sent directly to Norwood-Fontbonne Academy.  A Confidential Common Evaluation form should be completed by the child's current teacher and sent directly to Norwood-Fontbonne Academy.
  • When a child is accepted to Norwood-Fontbonne Academy, parents receive a formal letter of acceptance and are asked to remit a $1,000 non-refundable deposit of enrollment that is applied to the student's tuition.

Norwood-Fontbonne Academy admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at our school.  Similar policies apply to the school staff.  Our school does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, nationality, or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, its admission policies, or in any school administered program.
