Father Bill Waters, Class of ’57, celebrates NFA’s opening school liturgy.
Our liturgical experiences in the Eucharist and through prayer services are central to our faith formation and community at Norwood-Fontbonne Academy. These holy gatherings, held throughout the school year in the Fontbonne Commons, are always child-focused, spirit-filled, and reverent celebrations of our spirituality.
Our liturgies have full student participation as they are planned by the Office of Campus Ministry in collaboration with students and staff.
- Children serve as cantors, lectors, vocalists, and altar servers. Their participation often involves music, dialogue, and theatrical presentations for the liturgical seasons and special holidays.
- Grade level choirs lead the music at our celebrations while parents, alum, grandparents, and friends regularly join as special members of the NFA worshiping community.
- Children and families of other faiths are warmly welcomed and participate in the Eucharist and liturgical prayer experiences.
- Worship experiences often integrate prayers for those that the children meet in their service learning visits as well as those that NFA families reach out to with Thanksgiving food baskets, Christmas family gifts, and Operation Rice Bowl.
For the dates of NFA liturgical celebrations, please consult the School Calendar.
